A Survival Guide for Empaths and Sensitive Jedi

Whether you are believe in energy and empathic abilities or not, this advice is a great way to asses your own emotional capacity and involvement.

A Survival Guide for Highly  Sensitive People

A Jedi is open to the feelings of others, but is not dependent on or tangled in those feelings. When you are close to someone it is tempting to remove all barriers, to be totally open with them. But openness and honesty are different from dependence. To truly be effective and true Jedi, we need to be independent and in control of our identities and feelings. We can be deeply in touch with other people we love, but cannot be ruled or overwhelmed by their feelings.

Growing up empathic, that is to say, easily swamped by the intensity of the feelings and emotions of people around me, was difficult. It made it difficult to understand who I was, and make choices for myself with a clear mind. It was only when I began to walk the Jedi path and slowly started to understand the meaning of “There is no emotion, there is peace” that I was able to learn to control my feelings and reactions.

Do you ever feel alone though…. I remove all barriers always but seem to, again seem to, get used and most of the time the sarcastic comments i find should only be done by a close friend that deserves that right as a true friend. I built a wall around my self to only let in good because i was getting bombarded….

    • Definitely! Healthy boundaries are tricky, you want to take care of yourself and not let other’s emotions and needs run your life, but you don’t want to go so far the other way that you isolate yourself. Social wellness is finding what needs you have and looking for healthy ways to meet them. If your friends are being unkind, tell them to stop. Expand your friend circle to find folks that support you. Easier said than done for sure though. I hope you find some support!
